Gone-With-the-Wind Stew

Hello! :D This is SilverDawn, here with a post on Gone-With-the-Wind Stew.

That may sound odd, but it basically means a stew made from whatever is left in your cupboards and refrigerator. Here are some suggestions of what you can use in your stew:

  • Tomatoes
  • Tuna, sardines, or some similar fish
  • Leftover pasta
  • Lentils
  • Leftover potato
  • Kidney beans
  • Green beans
  • Baked beans
  • Chickpeas
  • Leftover rice
  • Red/green/yellow/orange pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Peas
  • Onion

The ingredients are optional though, except the tomatoes which are essential. You only need about three of the ingredients mentioned above, or of your own ingredients. This recipe is pescetarian, but if you want to add chicken or beef or some other meat then you can. Here are the instructions!

Start by chopping your vegetables (and "vegetables"*).

Once you have done that, put them in a saucepan, and with the help of a grown-up put them on a low heat. As they cook, put in your other ingredients and stir well. Also put in a tablespoonful of ready-made tomato or vegetable soup, and stir it in. Do not let the stew stick to the bottom of the saucepan.

Once it looks like stew (I cannot show a photo as I don't know what ingredients you'll be using) then it's ready! You may have to heat it up a little.

Once it's finished, serve with bread and butter. Enjoy! :D

* = Some fruit (such as tomatoes and peppers) are called vegetables when they are really fruit. All fruit have seeds in them, whereas vegetables don't. ^.^
